Our clinic has been in Marewa since 1999. We are a husband and wife team and moved here from a busy Auckland practice. We are both qualified registered podiatrists and have been practising podiatry for over 30 years. We both trained in New Zealand and qualified with a Diploma of Podiatry and continued our training through the University of Brighton in England and achieved a Batchelor of Health Science (Hons) degree.
Our field of expertise is general podiatry, including the treatment of more common disorders like corns, callouses and ingrown toenails. We also offer a more permanent surgical approach to help chronic sufferers of painful ingrown toenails. In our clinic we treat sports and gait related problems utilising orthotic therapy when necessary.
Both Julie and David are ACC registered and will help with arranging WINZ subsidies for treatments. Areas of interest include diabetes foot complications as we have both had experience working at the Diabetes Centre at the HB Hospital. Related to this was a visit to the Chatham Islands to assess and treat the diabetic residents of the island.
Another area that poses foot problems is arthritis in its different forms. This is also an interest area for us and the manufacture of custom made insoles can help to improve function and comfort. It is not only adults that develop foot trouble, it is not uncommon for children to need the help of a podiatrist. Issues may be due to poor limb alignment causing foot or leg pain. Verruccae are also common with our younger patients.
We love living in Hawke's Bay with our family and enjoy the opportunities that living in the Bay offers.
